Billions of users own a smartphone, making mobile apps highly preferable when running a business. Their portability is the essential value brought to the market. As the easiest bridge to the physical world for the end-user, mobile apps can also be challenging to build, especially for IoT enterprises. As IoT is a fairly new industry, it has specific, and sometimes unknown, protocols to follow. If developers are not experienced, they have to play with trial and error until virtually seamless, which is time-consuming and costly. Security concerns should also be considered both in the front-end and back-end.
TAP, by SDS Industries, is a commercially available consumer kiln controller that enables the glass or ceramic artist to immediately start programming and operating their kiln. This controller is designed to take all the guesswork out of firing schedule creation, modification, execution, and monitoring. However, the company aimed to incorporate a GUI to this advanced service, and specifically they wanted to leverage it with a mobile app.
They reached out to Scopic and communicated their ideas with our best experts in the field.
The controller was developed by SDS Industries themselves, and they provided us the Backend logic, so that we could reuse it. Scopic’s frontend experts designed and concepted the entire Mobile user interface for a cross-platform app implementation. Also we worked on a whole set of backend improvements to adjust to the IoT environment. The service includes these features:
Biometric login
Kiln settings adjustments
Kiln Schedule Configurations
Error logs view
Graphical display of Kiln processes
And more!
The mobile version works for both Android and IOS and simulates very closely the functionalities and features that are available on the controller. This user-friendly interface enables immediate out of the box use.

In fantasy sports, players assemble virtual teams made up of proxies of real-life players. Imaginary teams compete based on the actual performance of the real players.
But don’t you wish you could take your fantasy game experience to the next level and combine it with the elements of a knockout pool?
Here’s where Fantasy Sports Knockout comes in.
Fantasy Sports Knockout is a fantasy league with a knockout pool – combining the best of both worlds to form a unique game like no other. The platform allows you to pick a team you think will win. You can also choose your players, craft strategies, play with friends in user contests, and even participate in site games for real money.
The players can set a fantasy lineup as they would in daily or season-long fantasy. The lowest-scoring team(s) are eliminated until there’s just one winner left – just like in a knockout pool.
As Fantasy Sports Knockout wanted to provide a unique and meaningful fantasy sports experience for all sports fans, they partnered with Scopic to increase their outreach.
To encourage more users to sign up for updates, Scopic created a landing page via Instapage. The landing page serves to increase sign-ups and interest in the platform before the full-fledged site is up.
Our marketers drove traffic to the page through a Google Ads campaign. The campaign was designed to target American football and other sports enthusiasts. Additionally, the campaign achieved:

To break this frantic cycle and slow down, it is a good idea to find some time for meditation. But then your brain is already overwhelmed and focusing on meditation can be harder than it seems. Every surrounding sound in the room becomes distracting and working with your breath as an anchor for your attention seems impossible. This is when audio support can save the situation and take your meditation to the next level.
The company envisioned a practical solution for people interested in meditation through audio-visual stimulation. They wanted to create a technology that would assist users in reaching deeper levels of consciousness through mindful meditation. The company was looking for a strong team of developers that would capture this vision and help them build a leading-edge mobile application.
Scopic created the mindLightz AVS (audio-visual stimulation), an advanced and user-friendly platform for transforming a mobile device into a state-of-the-art “light and sound” machine.
The app includes 83 preset programs to help users achieve different states of consciousness. Users can also choose to create an Autopilot program to stimulate different brain-waves (Delta, Theta, Alpha, Beta, or Gamma) as a means to induce various mental states.
Additionally, with the use of the Bluetooth glasses, users can experience the most advanced audio-visual stimulation available today. This feature-packed application brings many advantages to the user’s meditation experience, such as:
● A completely wireless AVS system.
● Works as an audio-mixer that allows the user to combine and individually adjust the volume levels of its preset stimulation programs, sound effects, and music from the user’s library or favorite streaming service.
● The wireless mindLightz ColorMatrix Lightframes are controlled by the mindLightz app via BlueTooth.
● Each session comes with a graph depicting the flash frequency vs. time.

Recreational shooting refers to several activities, including participating in shooting competitions, hunting, or using firearms as a hobby. Becoming a good shooter requires a lot of practice: you need to learn the best shooting angles, train to do pistol magazine changes, and perfect the proper pistol grip.
.
The founders of Fire Mission Alpha wanted to help people who love to shoot – to do it better, to be more effective, and to be more informed. They decided to create a web resource that helps people improve their shooting skills through the easy-to-follow video format.
Founders of Fire Mission Alpha reached out to Scopic to bring the project into reality. The Scopic developers built a clean WordPress website that educates users about recreational shooting. The website features multiple instructional videos about shooting: from teaching the ideal pistol stance to performing pistol magazine changes.

Video content helps you to be concise and capture viewers’ interest, so it is no wonder that videos are becoming the most popular content type on social media. However, with businesses and brands constantly competing for attention on social media, videos you create need to be memorable and have that ‘wow’ factor to grab the viewers’ attention from the first seconds.
Virtuacast envisioned a mobile application that would allow its users to produce viral videos featuring holograms. They wanted to enable the app users to create life size holograms to view and interact with and later share the resulting videos on social channels. They partnered with Scopic to work on this sophisticated vision.
Scopic developers worked on Virtuacast, an app that generates life-size holograms of people (such as famous actors, athletes, and celebrities), animals, or animated characters from the app’s library. The application then enables its users to share the resulting videos or photos via Twitter and Facebook.
The system requires a special mat that is set on the ground and an accompanying mobile app. The hologram appears in view of the mobile device’s camera where the mat is set.
Scopic developed this solution both for iOS and Android.

]]>Coloring books are a form of adult therapy that has seen a growth in popularity since 2010. What used to be an engaging activity for children, currently is reemerging as a trend grown-ups are coming to prefer. Although it is proven to be helpful in lowering stress and anxiety levels throughout the daily pressures of life, it may become challenging to fully embrace such a trend.
This comes due to the struggle adults phase to unplug themselves from specific routines at work or home that are often time-consuming and distracting. Naturally, the idea of finding and using coloring books is not prioritized in our daily tasks.
Sprite Labs is a company with a vast interest in the entertainment industry. In 2014, it released Mini Monet, a Creative Studio with state-of-the-art drawing tools designed for kids. This soon became an award-winning iOS app with improved coloring features. Later on, the company received feedback from Grandmas and Parents saying they found it appealing to use Mini Monet as well.
Sprite Labs envisioned the entertaining effects of their product applicable to adults. However, adults experience things differently so they knew this would need a deeper approach. The app should now serve as a way to apply the meditative technique above all. As they say: “When the heart is heavy, a person may be all wounded and it is tough to draw a single line because the hand quivers due to built up emotion.”
Hence, aiming to help users relax and bring down stress, Sprite Labs reached out to Scopic to develop their next product in mind.
Scopic designed the Chroma application specifically for adults. The mobile experts developed a user-friendly and responsive iOS app with natural coloring tools like pencil, marker, and brush.
The user could intuitively mix any color, texture, and gradient to create unique images and personalize each coloring page. The interesting interface also included a unique outline tool with which the user could complement the existing coloring page outline and add extra details, which could then be colored inside. In addition, the user could interactively share their work on different social media networks like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
After its release, Chroma Coloring Book was featured in “New apps we love” and “Coloring books” by Apple.

]]>You and your friends decide to go on the trip you had been talking about for a while now. So many things to be done! What’s the weather going to be like? Who gets to book the hotel? How do you book that city tour ahead? What are the main attractions to be seen?
Excited as you are, you decide to go for the ride. Everybody is ready. The group gets in 2 cars and you hit the road. You remember about a coffee shop on the way to the destination. But the driver of the car joining you needs gas while another friend wants to enjoy the beautiful site.
It is not easy! Organizing group events may become challenging. Different minds, different tastes but one common goal: to have a good time. Even for the most adventurous and spontaneous youngsters, not planning anything beforehand can be stressful and, eventually, take the fun out of the trip.
Trip Commander envisioned a solution that would make coordinating groups easier. Whether it is about what to do on a trip or when to make a stop on the road, everything can be planned through the app. This lets groups of travelers be more in sync with their plans.
When it comes to planning a trip, the company aims to be a reliable source that makes the whole experience more enjoyable. And as convenience is one of their core values, a user-friendly app was at the top of their priorities.
Scopic developed the Trip Commander app for all Android devices. Adding geolocation to the features, Scopic, together with the company, made sure to cover all aspects of road trip planning. The user can intuitively select a “to and from” destination with the additional ability to plot waypoints in between both of those locations. The waypoints include purchasable options such as tours and attractions. The app can also give you recommendations for hotels, gas stations, and cafés.
The appealing user interface using Material Design allowed users to invite their friends on the trips and track their status along the route. Conveniently, they also receive notifications as their friends pass each waypoint.
Here are some additional features:

Social media has vastly evolved over the years. It’s become a place where we share almost anything and everything with our family, friends, and followers. Recently, social media has become a go-to source for people to air their dirty laundry as well as share opinions or beliefs about current topics. When this happens, they can be confronted with debates from their communities.
The challenge then becomes, are these the right platforms for people to express their thoughts on these topics? Many would argue yes, why not, while others would answer no. Thus, a safe space was required where people could voice their ideas and freely discuss topics with like-minded users without causing a stir or feeling unaccepted for their thinking.
CNKT wanted to create an app devoted to helping people share their way of thinking and opinions judgement-free.
They envisioned the app as a go-to source for American users to freely discuss real issues or topics. An app where community input would be valued and appreciated without interrupting the light-hearted feel of other social streams.
With this specific forum app in mind, CNKT contacted Scopic’s development team to bring their idea into existence.
Our team of developers worked closely with CNKT to create this new kind of social platform. The app was designed to provide American users with a safe space to ask and answer questions. Everything from climate change to upcoming fashion trends can be discussed with other passionate, community members.
We developed the app to include images, videos, text, and word clouds to create a query related to any topic or to reply to pre-existing queries. The application was built using MySQL and HTML5 Canvas and allows access to Payoneer.
